They are not compatible with the older series of focal plane shutter cameras. Similar to the 6x4.5 based ETR series that came before it, the SQ uses a leaf shutter based lens design. Once very common, availability seems to have dried up and one rarely sees them for sale anymore. This is a lovely piece of glass, prized for its speed and bokeh performance at f/2.4.
The 'system' camera has always been a Bronica philosophy, ever since the founding of the company. The Bronica SQ is a 6圆 medium format SLR camera that replaced the Bronica EC as their 6圆 format camera from August 1980.
